Princess Riella de Veltier is a beauty like no other; her hair shines like melted gold, her eyes sparkle like jewels, and her skin is soft like silk. When her close friend Lady Meil von Biseart dreams about the princess' beauty causing the downfall of their small kingdom, she believes it is a warning.

Riella enters the empress-to-be selection in the Helberne Empire, having heard rumors of Emperor Roheiden Van de Helberne's dashing looks. However, that is the very catalyst of the impending doom. To prevent Riella from falling for the emperor, Meil joins her as her adviser. The empire is not all bad, as plant enthusiast Meil soon discovers the emperor's private garden, though it leads her to meet a mysterious and rather troublesome masked man. But she can barely rest as the cutthroat competition starts, and the foolish princess seems to cause only trouble.
